Fertility Consultation

Personalised fertility advice with a specialist.

One calm, unhurried conversation can make the whole journey feel clearer.

A fertility consultation is a chance to sit down with a doctor and talk through your history, your worries and your options. You don’t need a diagnosis or a plan. Many women tell us the biggest relief is simply being listened to and having someone explain what’s likely to be going on.

Questions we hear every day

“What happens at the appointment?”
We’ll ask about your periods, your health, any past pregnancies or surgery, how long you’ve been trying and what matters most to you. Depending on what we hear, we may suggest tests, a scan or an examination, and we’ll explain each one before it happens.

“Should my partner come?”
Yes, if they’d like to. Fertility affects both of you, and many couples find it easier to go through together. You’re equally welcome to come on your own.

“What tests might we need?”
For women this can include blood tests for hormones such as AMH, FSH, LH, thyroid and prolactin, a progesterone check to see whether you’ve ovulated, and a pelvic ultrasound. For men, the standard first step is a semen analysis. If it’s needed, tubal patency tests (checking the tubes are open) are arranged through a specialist.

“What is AMH?”
Anti-Müllerian hormone gives an idea of your ovarian reserve (roughly how many eggs remain). It’s useful information, but it doesn’t predict whether you’ll get pregnant on its own, and we’ll explain what your result does and doesn’t tell us.

“Is there an age limit?”
No. Fertility declines gradually with age, particularly after 35, but many women conceive later, and we’ll give you honest, kind advice at any age.

“What if we’ve had losses?”
Please tell us. Recurrent miscarriage deserves its own careful assessment, and we’ll help you plan.
